Harvest TC Custom Digital Menu Boards
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of food trucks, and especially of the delectable offerings coming out of Old #12.
A little over a year ago, I suggested to Simon that some Korean Beef Tacos would be a killer option to go along with his ever increasingly popular pulled pork, blackened chicken, and whitefish tacos. I was delighted when I finally saw them appear on his menu, and I’ve been a regular to his food truck just about anytime I see them on the menu. (note: everything else is delicious too.)
Shortly after I launched the 7 Monks custom menu project, I met with Simon at 7 Monks, and discussed how we might be able to do something similar for his new Harvest TC restaurant that he was about to open. Simon wanted to have two large 55” LED Digital Boards and wanted the ability to manage his menu and update from anywhere he had internet access. We went over the logistics and came up with some ideas.
To drive the two large 55” LED TVs, I suggested that he use a Mac Mini which is a perfect device for this: low power, super small form factor, and now that the latest version (FINALLY) supports dual video output, would be easy to mount near the TVs and manage.
After a couple design rounds, we eventually landed on this:
Roaming Harvest already had an existing Wordpress website, and so I built a custom section within their CMS to create and edit their menu whenever they wanted:
The database automatically formats to the designed digital boards, and Simon doesn’t have to mess around with formatting or anything other than adding his daily items.
It also automatically updates his website menu, without any further actions to take:
The digital menu boards look great in the new space:
And of course, I was given the honor of the first Korean Beef Taco served:
Back at the office.. always watching out for those Korean Beef Tacos:
Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously
